Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is Maraux jewellery made from?

Every Maraux piece is crafted from solid sterling silver, with all of our rings finished in a luxurious layer of 18k gold vermeil. This combination gives each piece a rich, enduring glow — outlasting regular plated jewellery.

We find it not necessary for earrings to need vermeil as they are exposed to less friction, so as a result we have these plated in gold, ensuring they remain more affordable & accessible.

2. What makes gold vermeil better than gold plated?

Gold plated jewellery is like a fleeting crush — pretty, but short-lived. Gold vermeil, on the other hand, is a lasting romance. It features a thick coating of real 18k gold over genuine sterling silver (never brass, coper or steal), offering depth, durability, and timeless beauty.

3. Why does Maraux use sterling silver instead of cheaper metals?

Because we believe jewellery should last longer than a trend. Sterling silver is a precious metal — durable, elegant, and naturally hypoallergenic. It won’t peel, flake, or turn your skin green. It’s an investment in lasting style, not fast fashion.

4. Will gold vermeil tarnish or fade over time?

With care, gold vermeil holds its golden glow beautifully. The thick layer of 18k gold over sterling silver ensures longevity and shine. Avoid direct contact with perfume, alcohols, mineral spas and lotions — a little love goes a long way.

5. How should I care for my Maraux jewellery?

Treat it like you would a love letter — with care and intention. Store your pieces in their Maraux box, avoid perfumes and lotions directly on them, and give them a gentle polish now and then. They’ll reward you with years of shine.

6. Can I wear my Maraux jewellery in water?

Yes — your Maraux pieces can be worn in the shower or during everyday life. However, we recommend avoiding mineral hot springs, pools, and harsh chemicals such as perfumes, alcohol-based products, and cleaning agents. These can wear down the 18k gold vermeil finish over time. Treat your jewellery with a little care, and it will continue to shine with effortless elegance for years.

7. Can I wear my Maraux jewellery every day?

Yes — our jewellery is designed for real life. Whether she’s dressing up or keeping it casual, her Maraux piece will complement every moment. Just remove it before swimming or showering to keep that glow lasting for years.

8. Is gold vermeil suitable for sensitive skin?

Absolutely. Our jewellery is nickel-free and hypoallergenic, making it perfect for sensitive skin. It feels luxurious, never irritating — just soft, golden confidence against the skin.

9. What’s the difference between gold vermeil and solid gold?

Solid gold is pure luxury; gold vermeil is smart luxury. You get the same brilliant 18k gold finish and prestige, layered over sterling silver, for a more accessible price. It’s understated elegance that looks (and feels) opulent.

10. How should I care for my Maraux jewellery?

Store your pieces in their Maraux box, away from moisture and sunlight. Avoid contact with perfume or harsh chemicals, and gently polish with a soft cloth when needed. Think of it as a little ritual of love for something you adore.

11. Why choose Maraux over other jewellery brands?

Because we don’t just make jewellery — we craft keepsakes of affection. Inspired by Art Deco glamour and refined with modern contemporary elegance, each piece tells her she’s loved, seen, and treasured. It’s for the woman who loves to feel sophisticated — and the man who loves to make her feel that way.

12. How do I find my ring size?

Great question! There are two options. Either you can see our Ring Size Chart or you may request that we send you a free sizing kit to ensure your size is 100% accurate. We will simply require you to pay for postage.
